Dancing in the rain.......

Anyone who thinks that sunshine is pure happiness, has never danced in the rain......

Harley and Pumpkins......

Sarah and Pat stopped by this evening. They had a beautiful day for a ride over to Huber's Orchard. Sarah said the only bad part about riding the Harley was not being able to bring home a pumpkin. That's my Sarah, still a little girl at heart. Pat will have to gas up the truck and take her to the patch so she can pick out a few.

No place like home.......

Wanted to bottle up the last couple of days and open it when it's zero with snow on the ground. Thomas and I had an amazing weekend. So much that as we set on the deck late that evening with a roaring fire going we tried to figure out how to make the day last. We worked around the yard a little and everything looked so pretty and green. Green thanks to the rain the other day.
Most of the flowers are gone for the year, but the knock-out roses are still going strong. The ferns, elephant ears, banana trees and ornamental corn are still growing.

As we walked around the yard Thomas was glad that the dogwoods we planted were still doing good. We planted four pecan trees that came up from seed between the tavern and the flower shop and they are almost five feet tall now. We babied them for years. Seems they have grew almost a foot this year.
We are so blessed to have each other and a beautiful place to call our home.

Rhythm of the rain.....

Setting on the porch listening to it rain. If you listen close enough the rain will tap out a rhythm. The few flowers that are left in my gardens are getting the dust washed off of them. The sound of rain dancing on the tin roof calms the soul. Weather man says rain during the night. Hoping for no thunder or we will be up all night listening to Miss Lily bark.

Bazooka.....

I love bubble gum, especially Bazooka. Since I was a kid I've always been a loyal customer. I can remember buying it for 2 cents for a single piece or you could buy it in a package of five. I always had bazooka in my purse. When Sarah and Sandra was big enough they always ask for Bazooka gum. They knew they could always find some in the bottom of my purse. Never cared for the new flavors when they came out in other brands. No green apple, strawberry or watermelon for me just give me the old fashion Bazooka. Soon after my taste buds were back to normal after chemo I purchased some Bazooka. I hadn't chewed gum in a few months and was excited to blow bubbles again. I opened the package with anticipation and started to chew......gag and gag some more. I was sicked by all the sugar and the taste was terrible. Had I picked up a bad package, what had they done to my ole Bazooka. I opened another package and still the same, gag. It wasn't the gum it was me. The nurses had explained  how some things that I enjoyed before would no longer taste good or they would seem to make me sick to my stomach. No! not my Bazooka. Seems the high content of sugar makes me sick. Needless to say I was not a happy girl. Even after three years just the thought of chewing my favorite bubble gum makes me sick. Sick cause I can't enjoying an afternoon of blowing bubbles. Just one more reason to curse Cancer.
It's the same thing with Coke. I was not a big Coke drinker nor any other kind of  soda. I would crave a ice cold Coke a couple times a week. They had to be ice cold, it was the only way to drink them. The high sugar content in them makes me sick too. No matter how cold I got it, the taste wasn't the same. I can live without Coke or any other soda but I miss my Bazooka.

Wedding day.....

What a beautiful day for a wedding. To say,"I Do" to your best friend surrounded by friends and family. Jubilee Flowers had three weddings today. One in Louisville at the Hourstbourne Country Club. Since I knew my way around Louisville Heather wanted me to do the set up. Thomas went with me and it felt just like old times at our flower shop. We've done a few weddings in the big city and they were always exciting.

The golf course is tucked in between beautiful houses with manicured lawns. Driving down the lane that leads back to the club you cross a bridge with a beautiful  view of a stone bed creek.

This is the view as you enter the main door. The winding stair case leads to the second and third floor.

The centerpieces were white hydrangea's with bear grass. They were simple but elegant.

The candy bar looked tasty....

And the most important flowers of the day, The Bridal Bouquet"

Yellow or Red....

Which do you prefer yellow or red? I like them both, but if you ask me to choose I will choose yellow.
Helped Daddy in the garden this morning, he picked a few large one's but there wasn't as many as usual. Even though he watered them almost daily he was disappointed they wasn't bigger. He claims that a good size tomato when sliced will be as large as the bread you lay it on. Top it off with a piece of bologna and cheese and you got lunch.

In the midst of the storm......

Where do you go or do when you need to find peace in the midst of your storm? I can see everyone starting to search your mind as to where you go. Some of you might say you go to your quiet place. Ok, but where is that? Do you take a walk, do you set in your favorite chair and read. Do you call a friend or pray. Or are you the one who just sets quietly. All of us have different ways of coping with life.
Many morning's on the way to the shop I might sing to myself, turn on the radio or  just enjoy the quietness. Depending on the morning I might listen to the news, radio or pop in one of my favorite CD's. One of my favorite is a song that talks about finding your peace in the midst of your storm. It makes you think on how you handle life's situations. Knowing where your peace is in the midst of your storm keeps you balanced. No matter what the day brings, you know that you're prepared.

You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level      ~Eckhart Tolle
