Only 10 chairs.....

Spent most of the day setting in the doctor's office with Daddy. He had a mole removed a few weeks ago. The test came back mild cancer. Today they had to go back in and make sure they got everything. The results were good. Now, I just have to keep him from using the arm so it can heal.

While setting in the waiting room we got to know everyone. What great people they were. One man was a Marine who served in Vietnam who was there for his brother, one man raised in Canada was by him self. One lady had her husband as her support. The other gentleman was there with his wife. The younger woman was a friend of Sarah's. Then you had me and Daddy. Sarah's friend showed us pictures of her surgery. She made us laugh. The Marine who served his country had a lot in common with Daddy and they told us war story's. They bonded quickly. The man from Canada told us of how he had just lost his wife and how much he missed her. He said life just isn't the same with out her. The other lady was very quiet, her husband held her hand and kept telling her, it's ok honey. Everyone spoke up and told her she would be fine. Even though she smiled I could tell she was scared to death of the word cancer. The man waiting on his wife talked about hunting and fishing and what a good garden he has.
In this small room with only ten chairs a group of people had one thing in common-Cancer. Even though it sometime seemed there was an elephant in the room everyone was laughing and making new friends. Then there was me. I never let on that I had been through chemo. I don't share that every often. I didn't want to upset my new friend anymore than she was.
I enjoyed the day meeting these folks and even though I had things that needed to be done at home as did Daddy we were thankful for new friends. We were the next to last to leave. As each person left everyone wished them luck and how nice it was to spend the day with them. As we drove home Daddy talked how the world wasn't as big as it seemed. We're all in this together and we must take care and support each other. Nothing better than making friends.....

Vernon Township......

Coming out of town the other evening I couldn't help but pull over and take a photo. I'm always in "look out mode" for great photos. Reminds me of how lucky we are to live in Vernon Twp. No better place to live.....

Swinging with Miss Lily......

Lily and I are enjoying a late night on the porch. Miss Lily likes to swing with me. It's quiet except for the frogs in the pond and a cricket or two. The moon is huge tonight, they call it the super moon something about it being close to the earth. I didn't take the time to read about it. I just know that it looks amazing. I would take a picture and show you what it looks like from our view on the porch but that means that me and Miss Lily would have to get up.
Guess you're just going to have to use your imagination of how beautiful the view is from the swing. It's so peaceful, there's a slight breeze and a faint smell of my roses. We could set here all night and enjoy the tranquility on the back porch.

Busy........

Girlfriend: did you break some fingers?
Me: no, why would you ask me that?
Girlfriend: you haven't blogged forever
Me: sorry, I've been busy
Girlfriend: that's no excuse
Me: I will try to do better, just for you
Girlfriend: why are you so busy, duh wait that's a stupid question
Me: well, you could come over and help me with some paperwork and my office does need cleaning.
Girlfriend: what's it pay?
Me: steaks on the grill
Girlfriend: be right over....

Yes, been busy the last few weeks. My gardens are bursting with color and I've been spending lots of time working on them. Love mowing the grass with my new lawn mower, and it's RWB time. I sure found out Monday morning that it was festival time. I got a text message from an impolite, brainless, uneducated individual who doesn't deserve a response from me. I will not stoop to their level. I have better things to do.
Hope folks come out to the festival this weekend. The committee has worked extra hard for the last six months to make sure that family's have an enjoyable time. So, grab your lawn chair, savor some great food and enjoy your community festival.
