OMG.......

OMG......I'm sure most of you are saying that about right now. It's been months since I've been here.  I love to read by florist friends and my circle of friends blogs, but find it hard to set and write on mine. So maybe just maybe I might try to do better in 2016.

Christmas was so fun this year, Thomas and I are so blessed with Sarah and Patrick, Sandra and Blake. We laughed so much, had a delicious dinner, played Bingo, scratched off lottery tickets. Blake was the big winner this year. We only wish he had been the BIG winner so he could have shared or taken us all on a long vacation.

Hoping you had a good christmas also. Even though we had a green christmas here's a snow picture.....

Security lights.....

While driving to work yesterday morning--extra early, for some reason security lights along highway 31 caught my attention. Now don't ask me why but as I said it was early. Early as still being dark. I'm sure some of you of thinking this is a little odd. But I'm sure that you have driven the some route for years and for some odd reason notice something different that you never seen before. I knew that Swifty Farms has a ton of them but then I began to notice some homes have two, one in the front yard and one in the back. Maybe they are really scared of the dark.
Thomas and I have one at the side of the house. Thomas decided placing it there it would shine in the front and the back. When we started raising chicken he purchased one that runs on electricity so we can keep an eye on the coyotes as they come searching for dinner.
The silly things that we notice during our day, silly to some but makes sense to us . I don't know why they caught my eye but it made an interesting drive. I stopped noticing them when I got to the S curve. Guess I left Vernon Township and it didn't matter anymore.
My mind started thinking about the flowers that were waiting to be processed. I had funeral work to design. That was the reason for going in extra early, I had three funerals and I needed to get a jump on them before the doors open at 9am.
I guess I could have taken a picture of security light for all of you, but I didn't think about it. I'll just show a few beautiful flowers......

Getting back into the flow....

Thomas and I have been on vacation for the last 15 days. Come tomorrow we go back to work. Might take us a few days to get back into the flow of things.

Hello.....

I've been gone way to long. Lots of reasons why I haven't blogged. I'll get into that on another day.
Been enjoying a lot of vacation days with the hubby. Getting a lot of things checked off our to-do list.

Hair......

After losing almost half of my hair a few years ago during chemo I decided to let it grow. And grow it did. It hadn't been that long since Sarah was a newborn baby. It was becoming a lot of work and took time in the mornings, more time than I wanted to spend in front of a mirror.
I think I like it this length....

Let the water flow........

We've had a lot of rain the past 24 hours and water is standing every where around home. As I was making ditches today for the water to flow I remembered helping Daddy when I was young digging ditches out by the barn and around the pasture. The pasture is where our home is now.
Funny the things you learn as a little girl, are the things that help you take care of your own home. Daddy always said, there is a right way and a wrong way of making a good ditch. I think Daddy would have been proud of my ditch's today..

The Happy Dance......

I think I might have caught up with things that were put on hold for a few days.
Valentine's Day was a huge success at Jubilee Flowers. As a florist we always worry when the holiday falls on the weekend. Heather and I had quite a few planning sessions on Saturday sales. Needless to say her sales blew all records.
The best part for me was having Sarah working with us. We were short a couple girls due to illness.
Sarah grew up working in Mountain Memories and she can pretty much do it all. She helped me fill the cooler with cash and carry flowers. Kept the deliveries in order, wrapped those precious roses from the cold weather and did her share of balloon bouquets. She was having so much fun that at the end of the day I think she was a little sad to have to go back to her desk her job on Monday.

Sandra stopped in and kept us company for a while. Even though I was busy designing flowers as fast as the orders came it. My heart was doing the happy dance having my girls with me.

The Tent......

Visiting with Daddy today, he reminded me that this was the week that we use to put up, "The Tent."
We had a good laugh at all the times we put it up and filled it with flowers.
We needed the extra room and a tent was the answer. Mountain Memories was a small shop but come Valentine's Day we would fill over 300 orders. We needed a place for overflow and a place for me to design.
Daddy worked hard every year to secure it incase we got high winds when the snow came.
This picture was taken in the early years. The tent belonged to Carl Fred. He used it in his yearly years at Kovener and Sons. Adams Funeral Home was kind enough to let us use it one year. Daddy made a hall way by the side door so drives could be covered in case of rain or high winds when they carried balloons. They could back their vehicles close, load and go. The flowers and my design area would stay warm when the door was opened. Daddy decided we needed a gutter to protect them from getting drenched.
Over the years Daddy mastered the tent and it was secure and warm. He would come up with new ideals each year to make it easier to set up and weather proof.
It was good walking down memory lane.

Ready and waiting.......

The buckets are lined up and ready to be filled. Flowers will arrive Monday from market. Roses will arrive on Tuesday from South America. Yes. South America. Our roses are cut and shipped the same day from the farm. Over 2,000 roses will fill these buckets. Other flowers are, lilys, iris, stock, carnations, daisy's, calla lilys, snapdragons, larkspur just to name a few.
The greens cooler is ready with dozen and half dozen vases ready for the roses. Last count we had 100 vases ready just for a dozen roses.
Today, Heather and I went over our list and everything that we could think of to make the day smooth was done.
If you're prepared and things are in order and all you bases are covered, Valentine's Day will be a success.

21 Valentine's.........

Count down begins tomorrow as soon as my alarm sounds. I've been getting things ready for the big day. Clip boards are ready for the drivers. Their packets are filled with pens, door tags, maps and candy kisses.
Vases are taped and decorated. Balloons are in order ready to be filled with helium. Boxes are stacked ready for those who choose to have their roses boxed.
After all these years it's still exciting. Hard work, yes. If you're organized and got all your ducks (hearts) in a row it's smooth as silk.
This will be my 21st Valentine's Day. Even after all these years there will still be a few bumps in the road. But it's nothing that can't be fixed.

Snow......

Looking forward to a little snow this weekend. Maybe not 6 to 8 inches like some have said. Maybe 2 to 3, that would be nice. As I walked out the back door this morning you could see a few flakes floating around. I just need to be able to get to the shop on Monday morning. Have lots to do with Valentine's Day just around the corner. If ole man winter decides we need 6 to 8, I will just flip over to 4-wheel drive and cruse on in.

Get with the program.......

Had a talk with the Rhonde Island Red's the other day. Informed them I was tired of buying these ugly white eggs. They hadn't laid a brown egg in weeks and they needed to get with the program.

Guess the girls were paying attention to what I said. This is what I found today...

Happy fish.......

Bully's, they are every where, even in fish tanks.  The reporter the other morning told a story of a fish that was being picked on. He had a cataract removed a few years ago and the eye never healed completely. They removed his eye and he seemed to be ok for a while. Then the worst happened. His under water friends started picking on him and making him stay at the bottom of the tank. They were bully's. Just because he had one eye, he was different. The workers at the aquarium in Vancouver decided to outfit him with a prosthetic eye. The Copper Rock fish received an eye designed for taxidermy.
Now, he's a happy fish, the bullying has stopped and he is now welcomed back to the swim with the other fish.
Bully's,they are not really good for anything. I could go on and on....but that's what they like, attention. And besides, this is a happy story of a happy fish!!

Six months.....

If you haven't wore it in six months, it's time to get rid of it. That's my thinking the past few days. I've got a pile started and hoping to add to it in the next few days. I planned on taking it all to the Goodwill, but as I started looking at it I decided to keep some for craft projects.
You can also give your gently used clothes to friends and what they can't use pass it on to their friends.
So, if you have some time in the next few days go to your closet and grab a few things. Even if it's just a few things pass it on or give to the Goodwill.

Anything you want.......

The book is new and the pages are blank. Today is page one and your journey is going to fill the next 364 pages. Each morning when our feet hit the floor we have the power to make the day good or bad. Start you day with a smile and the attitude that no matter what comes your way you will handle it with grace and the mind set that will keep you on the high road. Don't allow anyone to break you to the point that you fall to their level. It's your journey and you are the creator.
January 1 is the beginning of anything you want.
Remember those things you really wanted to do in 2014 and you kept putting them off. Do them now, remember the page is blank. Fill your book with memories so that on New Year's Eve 2015 when you set down and read over the past years events that you laugh so hard you pee your pants. Make 2015 an awesome year.

This is the beginning of anything you want......
