Cancer Awareness, Night of Colors at CHS Basketball game this past weekend. Each cancer has it's own color. My cancer, Lymphoma, is lime green. The gym was filled with colors. Breast cancer pink, orange for leukemia and kidney cancer.  Purple for pancreatic, blue for prostate, yellow for bladder. Some wore lavender which represents all cancers. The Tigers played Trinity Lutheran from Seymour and they purchased shirts to wear also. It was a "night of colors". All money collected that evening was given to the Cancer Center in Seymour. Next year maybe everyone can wear a color and fill the gym with a rainbow of color and show cancer that, "Crothersville Will Fight".

Jack....

How many times have you heard me say, "I HATE cancer?" It's evil. It shows no mercy, it comes like a snake in the night and takes over. It will try it's best to take your soul, but you only let it take your earthly body.
Once again it has taken a friend. Jack was a true friend. He looked past your faults and only seen the good in people. I never seen him have a bad day and always greeted you with a smile. He was truly a small town banker, always ready to help when you needed a loan.
Knowing Jack he kicked cancer in the butt every day right up to the last second.  Our prayers to his family for comfort in knowing they have an angel watching over them.

Sandra reminded me we had a picture of him announcing the Jackson County Fair queen pageant back when Sandra was participating. I dug through my files and sure enough I had it......

Rosemary......

I hate cancer.....once again it has taken a friend. Rosemary and I became friends as we took chemo together. Always thinking of others and encouraging you to keep fighting.  We both loved flowers and just this past summer I did a design show at her home for her garden club.
Rest in peace my friend and I will keep fighting just like you said.....

It's just a number....

It's just a number. It's appears on legal documents for information, you're asked at least once a day for it. You need it for almost everything you do--it's your birth date. It tells the world how old you are. You've seen the sign, 'if you were born before this day', you may purchase a cold refreshing drink. When I'm ask I give them numbers, 10-22-57. I've heard people do the opposite and give month and entire year. Me, I make it simple. I won't live to 2057, so I don't worry about saying the entire year.
When my parents were my age, I use to think of them as old, but 55 is not old. Some days I feel 90, I have aches and pains and after setting for a period of time it's hard to get moving. Then on the other hand some days I feel 20 again. I can work non stop all day. I've noticed past year that I'm starting to show some age in my face. My doctor says that chemo will age you a few years. Well, that makes me feel great.....
This past weekend my florist friends were taking photos of us and when I looked at them I made the remark that I looked old, they said I was just seeing things that I still had it. Even though they were being kind it didn't take the feeling away. I look in the mirror and I don't see what I seen a few years ago. We can't all look 21 forever. I look at my Mom and I don't see her as being 83. In my eyes she is beautiful. Thomas says I still make his heart skip a beat when he looks at me. He looks beyond the wrinkles, sagging skin and age marks and he sees me, the one he fell in love with. With that said, I'm not going to worry about aging and only look in the mirror when I comb my hair.
   Age, it's just a number.

To keep the heart unwrinkled, to be hopeful, kindly, cheerful, reverent-that is the triumph over old age.    ~Thomas Bailey Aldrich

Weekend flower show......

Spending the weekend with my florist friends at the Kentucky Florist Association winter show. Excited to see all the new designs and products. We changed the three day convention to July, but we needed a short show to keep in touch. Once again I will be working in the design room. Love being surrounded with beautiful flowers and wonderful friends......

Toasty Toes.......

Dollar Stretcher gives you ideals on ways to say money. The one tip that caught my eye talked about using cayenne pepper. We all know cayenne pepper is used as a seasoning but putting it in your socks to keep your toes warm when your outside for a long period of time, not for sure....
You can also use it as an inexpensive pest repellent. Place a couple of teaspoons into a spray bottle, fill with water, shake and spray. Specifically, animals such as rodents do not like it. Spray in suspect areas, including the garbage can. It's natural, inexpensive an quite a deterrent.
Not for sure if I would shake a little in my socks before heading outside to shovel snow. I usually put on an extra pair of socks. Would your toes be stuck to your socks after a few hours? yuck!! Then you'll have to wash your feet and then wash those hot smelly socks. No, thanks. If I put anything in my socks it would be rose petals..........

Brilliant in my eyes.......

Was explaining to Thomas the other day how Blogspot was having problems and I wasn't able to post pictures. We talked about a few things we could check. We got on my laptop and checked out a couple items. I contacted my friend Shelley and got some insight from her.Thomas spent some time checking and re-checking programs. Thomas job requires him to trouble shoot computer machines. Now, in my eyes he is brilliant, he can repair and fix anything. If he can fix million dollar computer machines he can figure out the problem with Blogspot.
When I came home today he had fixed THEIR problem. By choosing other programs and moving things around I now can share my pictures with all my friends......
Thank you baby....love you bunches and bushels!!

Souls blossom......

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

Being Greatful........

I see that Blogspot hasn't been working hard enough in trying to fix the problem of being able to attach photos to my blog. So I guess I'll have to pick through the pictures that I've posted in the past.......

I was reading an article this morning, it talked being grateful. It suggested we make a list of just a few things that we are grateful for each morning. So I made my list. Today, I am grateful for a loving husband, two beautiful healthy daughters. For the sunshine and a warm home. Also, good friends and of course my parents. The last one on my list was, still being able to kick cancer's butt.
What's on your list?  Everyday our list should be different. Maybe your grateful that your car started or that you have an awesome job. Maybe that your feet hit the floor this morning. Or maybe you were able to make someone smile. So start making your list and at the end of the month read it over and count your many blessing......

Aunt Ruthie.....

Received word the other day that Mom's sister, Aunt Ruthie is not doing well. Ruth and Mom are the only two left out of six children. Both of them are in their young 80's with just a couple years between them. Mom favors her Daddy as Aunt Ruthie favors her Mom, Grandma Peavler. I've been in touch with my cousin Vince for the last few days and just this afternoon we talked again. The picture below was taken over 30 years ago when Ruthie was visiting Mom. They were wrinkle free and beautiful. Now days with all their wrinkles, aching bodies and moving slow they are still beautiful. Keep Aunt Ruthie in your prayers and say a prayer for Mom and she worries about her sister.....
Well, I was going to post a beautiful picture of Mom and Aunt Ruthie. Seems Blogspot is having problems. Thomas and I have been trying for two days to post the picture. Keep checking back. Lets hope they are working overtime on this problem.....in the mean time keep Aunt Ruthie in your prayers.
