A tattoo.................

Phone conservation from last night.....
Sarah: Hey Ma
Me: Hey sis what you doing
Sarah: I've been thinking about something that you, me and sis
could do together and I think it's a great ideal. Sis agrees...

As she's talking, I'm thinking we're going to jump on a plane and fly to some warm island......

Me: So what do you have in mind?
Sarah: Let's get a tattoo with your green ribbon and have them
put three S's under it. Isn't that a great ideal......

I hear Sandra in the back ground say, what ya think Mommy, it might hurt for a minute or two....we've always been the three S's and now we will have it with your lime green ribbon

Me: A TATTOO, I don't think I want one of those
Sarah & Sandra: Why
Me: Cause, it's a tattoo and it will be there forever
Sarah: Ma, they aren't that bad
Me: Well, I don't think I really want one
Sarah: you think about it for a couple of days & we'll talk                   then and decide when we're going...Love ya Ma~Love ya Mommy.... Bye

I kinda just stood there for a few seconds, did my girls really just ask me to get a TATTOO. I thought we were going to a warm island and relax. Are they out of their mind???? I love them for wanting a reminder of my fight, but I don't believe I want a TATTOO.....I'll wear my lime green ribbon on my lapel and that's enough for me.

Sit less, live longer.....

A recent study led by a researcher at Louisiana State University's Pennington Biomedical Research Center estimates that two years may be added to the life expectancy of those who reduce sitting to less than three hour hours a day. Other research shows that setting for too long can cause physiological changes in metabolism.
Guess I've added years to my life by standing all these years. Working at the U.S. Shoe for years standing at my job covering heels. Then for the past 19 years designing flowers. I've tried setting and designing and I just can't seen to get the swing of it. When it's Prom time it's easy to set on the stool and design those little wrist corsages. Everything I need is on the towel in front of me. Some days it's so busy we never get to set down unless we take time to eat lunch or go to the ladies room. Sit less, live longer.....sounds like I might live to be 100!!

Hurry Spring.......

What a beautiful sunny day. Even though my back was aching I had to get out and enjoy the sunshine. Bristol, Lily Belle and I checked out the trees, bushes and flowers that were breaking opening to the rays of sunshine. As I bent down to take a picture of the daffodil's Bristol had to check them out to. We wondered around to the front yard to check on my magnolia tree that I bring back from Florida this past summer. The grower promised me it would live through an Indiana winter. She was right look at the blooms, there are at least six of them.

She told me of a man from West Virginia who comes back every year and purchases three each time. Their winter is sometimes colder than Indiana's. This year I'll bring back a couple.

Thomas planted two magnolia bushes for me a few years ago and they were showing buds too. With the extra dry summer we had I worry what will make it through the winter. The day lily's were popping their  heads through the soil. They were planted last spring and I watered them everyday so they would get a good root system. The only thing I worry about is my dogwood trees that I bring from around my old flower shop. Daddy and I would take turns watering them twice a day. Keep your fingers crossed.

When there's new growth bursting out all over, everything fresh, green and flowering, the plants are like little rockets of success going off everytime you look at them....

Happy 87th Daddy.....

What an exciting day tomorrow, Friday the 22nd, Daddy will be celebrating his 87th birthday...
We're all pumped, Sarah is cooking dinner, I'm in charge of the cake and Sandra is keeping us all organized.
We're so blessed to be celebrating another birthday with Daddy. I called Daddy this afternoon, I ask him if he was ready to party tomorrow, he said, "I sure am".  This picture was taken in the summer of 1963. If you hear a lot of noise in Uniontown tomorrow evening, that would be us......

Cuddled up.....

Lazy day resting with ice pack on my back.  Going for another adjustment in a couple of days. I can hear the wind blowing outside, sounds cold. Lily and I are cuddled in our chair under the heated throw, think we'll stay here for the better part of the day. Everybody stay warm if you go outside......

Back among the living......

Feels good to have life back to normal. Everything takes a back seat when Valentine's Day approaches. My hands are still a little swollen and I have a appointment with the chiropractor on Monday . After tomorrow my hands should be ok. I wasn't able to read the newspaper or watch the news for three days. I didn't even have time to open my laptop. The holiday is hard work and you have to be on your toes 24/7. Everything must be checked and double checked.  The break room was loaded with healthy food along with delicious junk food. It's exciting when your talking an order from the men and they explain in detail what their sweetheart likes. Pink roses with white lily's, could we tie on a purple ribbon cause she likes purple. Or the man who wanted purple roses cause those were their wedding flowers. The husband who brings in the same red basket that we have filled with flowers for the last 20 years. How about the man who ask we not run his credit card till after we deliver cause she will see the charge and know she's getting roses and he really wants to surprise her. Then the guy who wants me to come up with a sweet verse for the card cause he's just not good at that stuff. Valentine's Day is stressful but at the end of the day it feels pretty good knowing you spread a little love throughout the day.......

Four hour nap.......

Valentine's Day......you got to love being a florist this time of the year. Even though its long hours and a lot of hard work it does make you smile at the end of the day. After a long week I came home and took a four hour nap. I just wanted to lay down, rest my eyes and relax just a bit. I knew I was tired but four hours, wow!!  This next week will be early to rise and early to bed. Going to spend tomorrow baking sugar cookies. Seems family and friends think they need heart shaped cookies this week. Reckon I can get them to come over and help ice them.....

Visitors......

Loved the snow this morning as we took our morning walk about 6:30. Can't say Lily Belle and Bristol did. I wanted to stay out and take pictures. They wanted to tend to business and go back in where it was warm. The snow flakes were huge and all different shapes.

This afternoon the cardinals kept me hopping keeping them in afternoon snacks. We had a few visitors. Hadn't seen them around here before. Guess I'll get Thomas bird book out and see who they are. Maybe they will sit still long enough for me to take their picture.

Can't wait till tomorrow to see who shows up. I told them I had plenty snacks.
